The project Molisound is a project conceived and promoted by the Adri|Art Cultural Association of Termoli. Focused on the artistic and professional development of a talented young ensemble founded in the Molise region by classically trained musicians and composers who are equally at home in jazz and world music, Molisound is rooted in the creation of new compositions inspired by the region, the contemporary reinterpretation of the folk traditions of Molise and Southern Italy, and the rediscovery and creative use of traditional Molisan instruments.

Under the artistic direction and supervision of violinist Luca Ciarla, Molisound aims to create innovative performances in which music is combined with the presentation of the region through images and storytelling, enhanced by the use of technology—including electronics, looping, video projections and video mapping, field recordings, and other multimedia elements—to engage audiences in an immersive experience.

The project begins with an intensive creative phase dedicated to composition, arranging, research, and rehearsal in Molise. This preparation leads to an international tour featuring eight destinations around the world, including concerts, artistic residencies, educational activities, meetings and performances with guest artists, as well as artistic and cultural management training opportunities.

Between 2026 and 2027, Molisound will embark on an extensive international journey developed in collaboration with ELBJAZZ Festival (Hamburg), The Fridge (Dubai), Arte no Dique (São Paulo, Brazil), VAMP Productions (Singapore), Dunedin Arts Festival (New Zealand), Blue Note Jazz Club (Beijing and Shanghai), Studio 9 in North Adams (home of MASS MoCA, USA), and WOMAD Cape Town (South Africa). Additional concerts in other countries are also planned before and/or after the main events. Beyond co-producing and promoting the performances, these prestigious international partners will work alongside the artistic direction to identify internationally renowned guest artists who will collaborate with the ensemble at each international stop, as well as at selected events in Italy, including performances in Molise, at Casa del Jazz in Rome, and in other cities. The project will foster the internationalization of creative processes and open up new opportunities for all those involved, giving rise to both temporary and long-term partnerships. Each international engagement, as well as the final event, will be preceded by artistic residencies designed to encourage creative dialogue among the performers, alongside educational and professional development activities aimed at sharing expertise while acquiring new skills.
